After a 2-0 start, the New Orleans Saints came revved up by beating the heck out of the Dallas Cowboys in impressive fashion. Derek Carr and Alvin Kamara were going to quiet the critics as head coach Dennis Allen was considered as a Coach of the Year candidate.
Seven straight losses later, the Saints fell to the 1-7 Panthers and Allen is jobless.
We were fooled, big time. New Orleans is the wolf in sheep's clothing, the smoke in mirrors....in other words, a pretender. It seems as if after the Cowboys game, they were content on how they were as the flavor of the week. They didn't want to continue the momentum, especially in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL. They didn't show any fight against one of the worst teams in recent history. Against the Chargers, they lacked discipline and fight. The example was defensive lineman Nathan Shepard trying to twist Justin Herbert's leg after the play ended. How can a team not capitalize on a great start like that?
Well, there is one thing left to do.......start over. Seriously, trade everything and everyone possible. If you think that a coaching change is going to shift the momentum, then quite frankly, you are mistaken.
-Derek Carr has reverted back to the quarterback who sends receivers into dangerous territories. It's time to cut bait and hand the reins to Spencer Rattler or Jake Haener.
-Alvin Kamara has become a nuisance on and off the field. This franchise does not need more problems and isn't worth the headache to keep around. They ridded themselves of a nuisance in Michael Thomas, same goes with Kamara.
-Speaking of Michael Thomas, this guy probably hadn't heard of the phase, "Keep your thoughts to yourself." Acting up and posting threats on social media is one of the reasons why the Saints let him go and why an NFL team hasn't been near his vicinity to sign him.
-Chris Olave has sustained five concussions since his days at Ohio State. FIVE! If the NFL is gung-ho about safety, then this should be a red flag.
-You can trade Taysom Hill and hopefully get something for him, like anything.
-The offensive line is young and solid, no, keep them.
-The Chiefs really want Marshon Lattimore, allegedly. New Orleans needs to jump on this and get the picks to rebuild.
-Demario Davis and Cam Jordan are pillars of the Saints franchise and contribute to the community in New Orleans. As much as they want to stay till the end of their career there, I want them to win a ring before their careers end.
And also, Mickey Loomis has lived off that historic 2017 draft for too long. Time to clean house and start this thing back to the drawing board.
Before anything will tell me that the missed pass interference call against the Rams was the point when the Saints fell into a slumber. Nope, go back a further....it was Bountygate. This is where New Orleans was going to have a world of hurt for a long, long time. Sean Payton exposed himself and this franchise has frauds. Let's be real, they won a Super Bowl because a gutsy onside kick and a pick-six. Luckily, Drew Brees has a SB victory under his belt. The Saints haven't been the same since Bountygate. Sure, they had some good seasons, but with every Minneapolis Miracle or missed PI call, the Saints will continue to pay the succubus.
Hey, a deep clean shouldn't hurt.
