The Career Suicide of Les Miles

Today, after many hours of thinking, the University of Kansas and head coach Les Miles "mutually agreed to part ways" just days after placing him on leave. This happened due to allegations of inappropriate behavior with female college students during his time at LSU. The allegations range from inviting these students to his condo and forcibly kissing them. It came to light that in 2013, the athletic director at the time wanted to fire Miles after the investigation of these allegations were biting the university in the rear. However, this same university decided to sweep this under the rug and extend Miles since, you know, he won them a championship. Then 2016 rolled around and the LSU Tigers were no longer championship contenders and the university had no problem in letting Miles go. It was weird on how quickly LSU was willing to fire Miles. We didn't know then. Even in 2018, when the "major" Arizona schools needed a head coach, I thought Miles would be a good fit for ASU or UofA. Now looking back, I feel like an idiot.

Les Miles was 59 years old when he decided to do these creepy actions in 2013. That's really bad considering that the female students he was leering could have been young enough to be his daughter or even granddaughter. Also, he's a supposedly happily married man. What was he thinking?

Speaking of what were they thinking? LSU comes off as sleazy and irresponsible during this ordeal. They were accountable for their actions yet DIDN'T WARN ANYONE and decided to stick with the man who was being inappropriate. The NCAA should punish the program to the full extent. Baylor had to be punish after their allegations which led to Art Briles and his downfall. Only this time, it's the coach not the player.

As much as everyone pokes fun at them for the football program being dreadful, the University of Kansas has some shred of integrity. Mark Mangino was a legend in Lawrence after rapidly turning the Jayhawk football program in the right direction. Then, he became a jerk. Yelling discriminating remarks at his African-American players is a no-no. Mangino "resigned", but we know that the university pushed him out. Kansas didn't care if Miles was a championship-winning head coach. They made the right move in removing Miles despite them "mutually parting ways". I dislike that term. However, the process of hiring Miles has been called into question since Kansas didn't see any red flags in the acquisition. Either they weren't told about this or they just missed the boat on the info. As a result, AD Jeff Long is no longer the AD at Kansas. Losing Miles wasn't a big deal since he didn't exactly turn the program around.

Les Miles will be 67 this year and his coaching career is all but done. The issue is that a man with so much power of a college football powerhouse should not have been able to get away with this. Or that a prestigious institution as LSU would risk future penalties to not notify the NCAA of these allegations. This is why many people think college sports and the business behind it is corrupt.

Damn, that went dark quick. Time to do something positive. I got it.
