Re: The National Anthem at the Home Run Derby

Since I have a lot on my plate, I'm going to keep this short. Everyone was talking about the Home Run Derby this year. I mean, the Derby every year has excitement that the Slam Dunk Contest has been lacking. The winner, Teoscar Hernandez, took the crown in dramatic fashion. So, talking about it in a positive manner is common. However, many are discussing what happened before the event.

I'll be blunt, the rendition of the National Anthem was bad. More screeching than actual singing. Before anyone could say that they could put anyone in to sing the Anthem with millions watching, I decided to check out the woman who was the focus of this, Ingrid Andress. I checked out a couple of videos and she is very talented. She also has some Grammy nominations to her resume. They didn't just pick whoever for this task. I would bite this as a bad night for her.

She would speak out and said she was drunk while performing. She also stated that she is going to rehab to help her. It took guts to admit that it was her issue. I pray that she gets well and continues to make music.

With that, people have said that this was the worst rendition of the Anthem ever, and I say to them, "Are you kidding me?" Roseanne's version before a Padres game in the early 90's was hands down the worst. The difference was that Ingrid was intoxicated during her performance while Roseanne tried to be funny.......and that failed.

I know that the last few days has been crazy, so if there is one piece of advice that you need to hear from me, then here it is. Have a heart and cut the girl some stack. She had a bad night and addressed her problem head on.

Unfortunately, hers happened in front of a large audience.
