I hate WWE........sometimes.
What?, did you guys thought you were crafty and smart? This was your endgame heading towards WrestleMania, right? You decided to add an element to a match that you desperately have been pushing down our throats. But did you really have to do that? Or is Creative really that incompetent?
I know people will be on my case and state that Bobby Lashley was injured and will be out for months, thus he couldn't defend the WWE Championship. The problem isn't taking the belt off Lashley, it's who they put the belt on. At Elimination Chamber, they had A.J. Styles and Seth Rollins in the match. Two qualified performers to have the WWE Championship on their shoulder or around their waists. Matt Riddle is a main-eventer in the making. Austin Theory is a talent the company can invest on for the future. Any of these four could be the one. Instead, you went with Brock Lesnar. The same Brock Lesnar who lost the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble to Lashley due to interference from Reigns and Paul Heyman recreating the backstab of the 2002 Survivor Series. We get it. They want Brock vs. Reigns at WrestleMania.
But why so? Did WWE listen to the crowd at the Caesars Superdome during their last encounter? Did they hear the chants of "This is awful," "Boring," or "CM Punk"? The fans were playing with a beach ball during the match. Beach balls were prohibited from the event. This "trilogy" that the company is trying to promote as one of the greatest really isn't. WrestleMania 31 was the first red flag. Seth Rollins saved the match by cashing in the Money In The Bank briefcase and winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. They could have Rollins face A.J. Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania in a 20+ minute match that could shake the foundation of Jerrah World. But it won't happen, because they don't want anything to outshine Brock vs. Roman.
The company is desperate on getting the "universe" to tune in on the two nights of the event. Bringing celebrities as Johnny Knoxville and Logan Paul isn't going to do that. Even trying to get Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon to compete in matches is balderdash. Austin hasn't been in an actual match in almost 20 years, while Vince is 76 YEARS OLD and should not be competing in wrestling matches. Unlike 1995 when talent left for greener pastures and WrestleMania 11 was CelebaMania, WWE could have avoided this all together by letting the talent do their thing, instead of releasing over 200 members of the company in the past two years due to "budget cuts." By the way, how is Nick Khan's multi-million dollar mansion doing?
But the cherry on this sundae is that WWE has a chance to redeem themselves as this year's event is in Dallas. In 2016, WrestleMania 32 was in Dallas and many considered it one of the most underwhelming events in recent history. You would think that the company would do everything in its power to create a show that could generate positive feedback. Right now, it doesn't seem that aay.
WrestleMania is over a month away and the company has plenty of time to convince the viewers to enjoy the road towards April 2-3. That would be great.
Please do that.
