EMERGENCY BLOG! The Disturbed Descent of Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns

(This is an optioned post from the writer. ..Anyway, enjoy!)

The scene in.....(Looking at Google) Huntington Bank Field was a perplexed one. The franchise quarterback of the Cleveland Browns is on the ground in obvious pain. The cart will come to take him out as Watson would cover his head with a towel and tears coming down his eyes. This reminded me of Dan Marino's injury in 1993. Guess which city that both of these injuries occurred? Cleveland, Ohio, yep, yep, yep. Both were Achilles' injuries, so something must be in the ground there. The reaction of the hometown crowd at......Huntington Bank Field was not what you expect when the home team's starting quarterback is injured. They cheered him as he left the field. This isn't new for Browns fans as years ago, they cheered Tim Couch after he left a game with a concussion. He was in near tears talking to reporters after the game. Seriously, they nearly made the man cry.

I'll give Jameis Winston and Myles Garrett some credit for sticking up for Deshaun Watson and chastising the fans for cheering. Jameis stared into the camera and went Daddy mode on them. Garrett was addressing this to the media, then he said something that made everyone gasp. He said Deshaun Watson was "a model citizen."

WOAH! WOAH! WOAH! buddy, model citizen? I'm pretty sure model citizens do not get over 20 women with accusations and lawsuits for sexual assault and inappropriate conduct. Also, model citizens and franchise players don't ask for a trade when things get hairy like he did while with the Houston Texans. Here's the runaround, when he was on the field, the Browns seemed to lack inspiration or a knack to succeed. Anyone could see that. Joe Flacco came in for an injured Watson last year and led Cleveland to the postseason, while the team looked to take advantage of this......No, Deshaun is coming back for 2024 and hopefully, injury free. This is vital because he hasn't always been the model....wait, the franchise player that needs to be healthy. Other than the 11-game suspension he received, Watson has played only 19 games during his Browns tenure, and he hasn't been setting the world on fire or elevating his team to be on top of the division.

Here comes the part where I talk about the acquisition of him. Many will call it the worst trade in NFL history (I still think it's the Herschel Walker trade) and the problem was that Cleveland had no big need for a quarterback since they had Baker Mayfield already there. Jimmy Haslam, owner of the Cleveland Browns or as I like to call him Bargain Bin Jerrah (I know, right) wanted to execute a move to help his franchise go to the great beyond. Instead, he chose someone who was at odds with the team he was on, and yeah, had multiple accusations, lawsuits and just bad press all around. So, the contract was a five-year deal worth $240 million that is, say it with me now, FULLY GUARANTEED! The Browns gave up a lot of their future.....

Yep, Jimmy Haslem handed Cal McNair a cupboard full of picks to help them become a contender in the AFC, something that the Browns wanted when they traded for Watson.

So, the Browns are 1-6 and once again, could let another GM and coach go, in another attempt to rebuild. It has been the beacon in Jimmy Haslam's reign as owner, the team falls apart and begins the vicious cycle of starting over. Maybe the booing that Browns fans do caused karma to send her usual bidding.

Geez, it never stops.
