Dear Dean Spanos,
I did post a short letter on the Facebook page about if you were happy with yourself. But today, I wanted to dive deeper into this since you did something you should have done three weeks ago. Kind of like your team at the moment, too little, too late.
If you watched the game last night, it was obvious. The players quit on now former head coach Brandon Staley. The man seemed overwhelmed at the job. Your franchise went to the trend of hiring a successful coordinator to lead them. Unfortunately, being a successful coordinator doesn't translate to becoming a great coach. Staley showed that in a big, big way. Maybe in your next head coaching search, you could find someone with experience and a vision on, you know, WINNING and clock management.
You will also have to find a GM since you knew Tom Telesco into the fire along with Staley. This is a more of a "he wore out his welcome" type move. The J.C. Jackson signing was a colossal failure and some of their draft picks haven't really panned out. Also, Joey Bosa had so much leverage during his contract dispute that it wasn't funny. Austin Eckler also had issues. Maybe your GM can avoid situations like this. That would be swell.
If there was one moment that was a bright spot, it's the picture above. This woman gave a national audience a glimpse of how passionate Chargers fans can be.........
Unfortunately, that passionate fan base is in San Diego, not L.A. You moved the team so you can see the glitz and glamour. You have become Donald Sterling without the racism. Despite Instagram models showing themselves at Chargers games, some fans are more focused on fighting amongst each other in the seats at SoFi. The Chargers are the roommate to the Rams. That's right, your franchise is Jon Cryer to the Rams' Charlie Sheen. And what's worse, L.A. doesn't want them. You moved the team from a great situation to a dormant one. I want you to let that sink in.
Through all of this, your actions and the actions of the organization has affected lives. My brother and nephew are die-hard Charger fans and will go to the ends of the 🌏 to support your team. The Chargers performance this year has made them unhappy, which makes me unhappy, because I don't want to see them unhappy. Do you think they like seeing their team give up 63 points to a squad who was shutout four days before? They have longed for the days of Stan Humphries, Natrone Means and Junior Seau. They loved the nucleus of Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates and Shawne Merriman, because they were contenders. This team looks the part of playoff contenders, but they're not. So technically, you made it kind of personal there, DEAN.
So enclosing, can you go back to not disappointing everyone? Like for real?
Sincerely, A.J.
