The Elimination Chamber PLE for 2025 was supposed to set the tone for the Road to WrestleMania. Well, they did that and then some. Triple H said that this show was going to be an industry changing event that people would talk about for years. I think he hit the nail on the head on that one. At the end of the night, what happened at the conclusion of the Elimination Chamber will be considered one of the biggest moments in wrestling history.
For over 20 years, John Cena has been part of the foundation of WWE. His motto of Hustle, Loyalty and Respect has appeared on t-shirts and are worn by children and adults around the world. His 16-world title reigns has him tied with Ric Flair for the most in industry history and has main-evented WrestleMania after WrestleMania throughout his career. It's safe to say that John Cena is one of the greatest performers in the history of WWE. A few months ago, Cena made the announcement that he was retiring from the business, so we are getting an old-fashioned farewell tour this year. It's a proper way to say goodbye to a legend.
However, John Cena has always been a face. He had to due to the influence from the children that look up to him, setting records for granting wishes for the Make-A-Wish program. Vince never wanted John to turn heel. There was money to be made as Cena was generating it with appearances and performances. For years, fans wanted it to happen. They even booed him and chanted, "Cena Sucks." The fans were depraved from seeing John Cena go to the dark side because Vince McMahon didn't want it. Many believed that it would be a pipe dream.
As Vince left and Triple H entered, things were going to change, for the better. Trips has a vision for the product which allowed the superstars a little bit of free reign and willing to take the restraints off. This was a breath of fresh air since Vince's way of running the ship has gone stale. It has received rave reviews by many wrestling insiders and "experts." For the first time in a long while, WWE was out of their comfort zone and seemed to be enjoying it. Yet, people were still wondering if Cena would ever turn, especially in his last hurrah.
You remember where you were when Hulk Hogan turned and joined the NWO. This event happened almost 30 years ago and is still talked about to this day. As of last night, Cena's turn has been added to that elite list. We all wanted it, and now, it's finally happening.
