A.J.'s Letter To The NHL And The NBA About Their Draft Lotteries

Dear NHL and NBA,

Who are you trying to fool? Did you think you were crafty? The draft lottery is not rigged, you would say. Really? Are you sure about that? If I didn't follow sports, I probably would have known that this was rigged.

The Chicago Blackhawks won the NHL lottery and a chance to select a generational talent in Conor Bedard. The same Blackhawks who won three Stanley Cups in the last decade. The organization that had a predator working for them behind the scenes during their 2010 championship run and made despicable acts toward a player. Also, this organization covered up these despicable acts. The Blackhawks were not punished harshly for this. They also told their captain, Jonathan Toews, in the kindest way possible to (bleep) off. This team has the #1 pick and will build a successful franchise around Bedard. How do you sleep at night?

For two years, every source related to basketball linked Victor Wembenyama to the San Antonio Spurs. The team was actually tanking to get in that position. Remember, commissioner Adam Silver wants that to be eliminated from every equation. If you had me, a man who couldn't predict a flower growing from the ground, correctly get this right, then you know something is wrong. People point to 1997 when these same San Antonio Spurs were able to draft #1 and select a generational talent in Tim Duncan. Five NBA championships later, people still complain that the lottery is rigged. This time, the suspicion is obvious.

Look, as much as you think that this is foolproof and in no way rigged, it's time for a change. Since Adam Silver is obsessed with tournaments, why not eliminate the stupid Play-In tournament and replace it with one that determines the #1 pick. Same with the NHL. Also, it forces every team to be competitive and not tank. See that, I just solved that problem. Think about it.

Anyways, this is probably not going to happen and it was just a pipe dream. I tried.

Sincerely, A.J.
