Dear MLB,
I know that you thought this letter was about a certain change during this season, which I criticized to no avail. I have cooled down about that for now. I wanted to speak about the World Baseball Classic.
Before you think I am about to bash this idea, let's take it back a notch. The WBC has been around for a while and at first, I was skeptical. I know, what a shock, right? I come to like it. The league is very diverse and deserves a showcase to establish nation bragging rights. Also, it seems like the MLB players who get paid millions, on top of millions, of dollars have more focus and pride during this tournament than say......the actual MLB playoffs. I said some, not all.
You know that when it comes to writing these letters, it comes with a gripe. The problem is that having it during Spring Training comes with a risk. Star players could easily injure themselves and miss significant time come the start of the season. I know you're going to state that players have injured themselves during actual Spring Training. Gavin Lux is the prime example this time around. I'm not really complaining about it. When you have a baseball event that can sellout LoanDepot Park and Chase Field, you are doing something right.
Sincerely, A.J.
P.S. ..........The pitch clock has been around for three weeks and it's STILL STUPID.
