BUFFALO BILLS
If you heard of Muse's classic hit, "Time Is Running Out," then this is the Buffalo Bills. They traded Stefon Diggs and 3/4 of their secondary for them to rely on Josh Allen to carry them to glory. I think Sean McDermott has something his sleeves.
(Side note: I was listening to the song that was mentioned while writing this.)
MIAMI DOLPHINS
So, Football Ig....Stephen Ross decided to open the wallet and pay Tua his money and the Dolphins are a constant playoff team who can make their breakout this season if everything falls into place. Also, it would be nice to block for the $54 million per season quarterback.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
A new era begins with Jerod Mayo as head coach and Drake Maye as franchise quarterback. The Patriots will probably have a trying year with this new arrangement. Be patient, Foxborough, the future looks bright.
NEW YORK JETS
Let's try this again. The Jets and Aaron Rodgers should have a season where they can exceed expectations and not be derailed by injuries or quarterback controversies. Should be smooth sailing in 2024. Of course, this is the Jets we are talking about.
BALTIMORE RAVENS
The Ravens are treading water one year and be world-beaters the next. Last season, they were world-beaters with Lamar taking home his second MVP award. The question is which Ravens squad will show up in 2024?
CINCINNATI BENGALS
This is what cheapness does. The Bengals are a far cry from their Super Bowl team a few years ago. Now Tee Higgins and Trey Hendrickson want to leave. It will be Joe Burrow, JaMarr Chase and a cast of somethings that will lead the Bengals in 2024.
CLEVELAND BROWNS
This is more like it. The Browns went back into playoff mode and Myles Garrett became the best defensive end in football. Now, if Deshaun Watson can enter the fold and join in on the movement, Cleveland could be in playoff mode for 2024. FULLY GUARANTEED.
PITTSBURGH STEELERS
The Steel Crew decided to get out of their comfort zone and sign Russell Wilson and get Justin Fields to compete in the quarterback position. Can the defense step up to help TJ Watt and can the running game find stability? 2024 could be an up-and-down year for the Steelers.
HOUSTON TEXANS
Okay, this was a big jump. CJ Stroud was as promised and they added firepower with Joe Mixon and Stefon Diggs. Cal McNair was talking about championship aspirations a few years ago. He could be on to something if they can continue their push in 2024.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Now that Jonathan Taylor is locked up long-term, the Colts hope that Anthony Richardson can stay healthy and the defense can mold into something, this team could be a darkhorse pick to make the playoffs in 2024. Yes, I said that.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Ehhhh, that wasn't supposed to happen. The Jaguars' late season slide resembled Tony Khan in a neck brace at the draft. They signed T-Law to a huge extension in hopes he reaches his full potential. Let's hope the team does the same thing.
TENNESSEE TITANS
The Titans are in a rebuild. The King Henry has ended and it's up to Will Levis, Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley to reenergize an offense and hopefully, the defense can develop on a......rebuild year.
WAL-MART BRONCOS
I knew it, Sean Payton and Russell Wilson was bad from the start. Now, Bo Nix is the quarterback of the future as the Broncos swim in dead money in a year of figuring out who they are. Their new uniforms are okay, could have brought back the ironic Elway orange threads.
THE TAYLOR SWIFT CHIEFS
Three Super Bowl wins in this decade. This is called a dynasty and 2024 could be a recurring theme. Hopefully, their receivers can stay out of trouble, and everyone isn't distracted by a certain musical star, then everything will be cream cheese.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
Wait, Mark Davis actually listened to reason and made Antonio Pierce their permanent head coach? The Raiders could be an interesting team with the additions they made, but is Aiden O'Connell the answer going forward after 2024? Questions galore?
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
There is excitement in San Die...I mean, Los Angeles. Fresh off a national championship, Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL....hopefully, without those pesky power struggles. It's going to be interesting to see how Harbaugh uses Justin Herbert and how influential he can impact the defense.
DALLAS COWBOYS
If you are a successful businessman like Jerrah, what would you do? Do you give a boatload of cash to CeeDee Lamb? Or do you give it to Micah Parsons? Hey, Zeke is back! Will it be another season where many broken TV's happen due to another lost postseason?
NEW YORK GIANTS
The G-Men want to go back to 2022 when their offense was beautiful. They will do it without Saquon Barkley, their workhorse since being drafted by the team. It's up to Daniel Jones to live up to that contract and their defense to bring the noise in '24.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
They did what the Phillies did and crumbled when needed. They signed Saquon Barkley from the Giants to help the running game. Can they return to the Super Bowl with this talented, yet desperate roster?
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
It's a new era with head coach Dan Quinn and #2 overall pick Jayden Daniels as the Commanders continue to scrub the stink from Daniel Snyder's ill-fated tenure. It's going to take some time, but this team could surprise people.
OSOS DE CHICAGO......OR CHICAGO BEARS
The Bears think they finally have the answer at quarterback, Caleb Williams. They also grabbed Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen to help develop Caleb. They also extended D.J. Moore. The excitement should ease the headache of their stadium dilemma.
DETROIT LIONS
Lions fans have been waiting for last season for a long time. Despite the blown lead in the NFC Championship, Detroit has momentum to continue their rise to not only dominate the NFC, but all of the NFL. Many will be happy for that.
GREEN BAY PACKERS
So, the quarterback factory may have another great one in Jordan Love, and they paid him handsomely. The Pack could break through and ruffle some feathers in the NFC and could.....could be a Super Bowl contender.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS
The Vikings are rebuilding.....somewhat. New quarterback JJ McCarthy, newly extended Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison could form a deadly combination. Dallas Turner could be a shoo-in for DROY. Minnesota has young talent, but playoffs could be murky this season.
ATL28TA FAL3ONS
Atlanta signed Kirk Cousins to elevate at their quarterback position. They apparently liked the move so much that they decided to draft another one in the first round.....Huh? Wow, that blown lead really (bleep)ed up this franchise.
CAROLINA TEPPERS
The Tepper....I mean, Panthers hope to improve on every phase of the game this season yet there are still some issues that you can't just throw drinks at. See what I did there. Hopefully, David Tepper doesn't meddle this season. Let us pray.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
I'll be honest, things don't look rosy for the Saints this season. Derek Carr regressed, and Alvin Kamara has one foot out the door. Their salary cap issues are not helping either. It's going to be a long year in New Orleans.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Last season was a revelation for the Bucs. A playoff berth and extensions to Mike Evans, Tristan Werfs, Antoine Winfield Jr. and Baker Mayfield. Todd Bowles has this team headed in the right direction in 2024. Also, Baker finally has a home. Progressive, it's time to do your thing.
ARIZONA CARDINALS
Last year was what we expected, the Cards were humbled a lot. This year should show some improvement with Marvin Harrison Jr. in the fold and Kyler Murray healthy for a full year. This season's key word is improvement, and this regime hopes it comes to fruition.
LOS ANGELES RAMS
The Rams rebounded with a playoff berth in 2023. Aaron Donald has retired, and L.A. should be able to move on without him. If they have no distractions, the Rams could be a playoff team.
Someone: Did you hear what Kelly Stafford said?
Me: NNNNNNOOOOOO DISTRACTIONS.
SAN FRANCISCO (cough) (cough) 49ERS
Wow, that was brutal. Once again, the Niners had a Super Bowl lead and once again, it slipped through their fingers. They will be back deep in the playoffs. Hopefully, they studied the NFL rulebook during this off-season.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
It's a new era in Seattle as Pete Carroll "left gracefully." New coach Mike Macdonald has the vision that brings back memories of the Legion of Boom. It's going to be a slow walk to get back to the top of the NFC. This year is the starting point.
So, that's the preview for 2024. There is a new kickoff that is......something and Tom Brady debuts as Fox's #1 analyst (Sorry, Greg Olsen).
