BALTIMORE ORIOLES
The baseball gods have been kind to the Orioles this calendar year. They won the AL East and, are you ready for this?....The Angelos family SOLD THE TEAM! The new regime wasted no time in trading for former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes. Could be another fruitful calendar year on the horizon?
BOSTON RED SOX
The BoSox finally realized that maybe Chaim Bloom wasn't the guy to lead the team to glory. They traded some parts like Chris Sale for younger parts like Vaughn Grissom and Tyler O'Neill. Boston seems to be in a rebuild, but they have surprised people before.
NEW YORK YANKEES
They fell flat to a point where Aaron Boone became a meme. The Yankees did make some moves to help them get to playoff contention. Marcus Stroman and Juan Soto are the ones that bring hope to the OG Pinstripes. Hope is the key word.
TAMPA BAY RAYS
Wow, that was brutal. The Rays were off to a historic start, then, THEY ARE GETTING THEIR STADIUM!....in St. Petersburg? Then, their future franchise player turned out to be a bad man. And the playoffs....no, no, and they traded Tyler Glasnow away. Uhhh, they could be world-beaters again.
TORONTO BLUE JAYS
Once again, the Blue Jays were good enough to make the playoffs.....and once again, they bowed out in the wild card to break another team's long drought. I think they make the playoffs again. The hard part is getting past that pesky wild card. Also, congrats to Vlad Jr. on the MLB Show cover.
CHICAGO WHITE SOX
Just like former Sox player Tim Anderson, Chicago was sucker-punched and fell down hard. The White Sox are now back to basics as they figure out how to be back in playoff contention. Dylan Cease could be another former Sox player if a good deal is available. Hopefully, Berto from the Westside is calm for now.
CLEVELAND GUARDIANS
I don't know what the Guardians are planning. Terry Francona rode off into the sunset and the Stephen Vogt Era begins. Also, they won the draft lottery. Knowing this franchise, they will develop the selection and trade him for more prospects in the next few years. I guess I accidentally figured out their plan.
DETROIT TIGERS
The Tigers are progressing at a steady pace since new management took over two years ago. They extended manager A.J. Hinch and hope that Javy Baez can go back to his Cub days. They made a gamble to sign prospect Colt Keith to a long-term deal. Detroit is taking this rebuild very seriously.
KANSAS CITY ROYALS
Wait, the Royals are spending money? Is this Opposite Day? Kansas City is trying to get players to buy in to the system. The Royals made the big move to extend Bobby Witt Jr. to a huge contract.......They REALLY want that new stadium in North Kansas City to get the green light.
MINNESOTA TWINS
After eighteen straight postseason losses, the Twins finally ended the drought and the season continued on a high note. If you followed this team lately, they tend to go in a roller coaster-type situation. So, expect a down season for them despite this division being the less dominant of the three in the league.
ANAHEIM ANGELS OF LOS ANGELES
See what happens when the owner meddles with baseball affairs. Arturo gambled on Shohei instead of trading him for prospects and lost. Mike Trout is handcuffed by this franchise, and they have a player who doesn't love baseball. Some tough times for fans of the LA team located in Anaheim.
HOUSTON ASTROS
The Stros apparently have a time machine and decided to go back to 2019 and replicate the same feat they did in the World Series: Win all three road games, but lose the four at MMP. What's worse is that it was against their hated rivals in the Rangers. With Dusty gone, I think this team will take a step back this season.
OAK/VEGAS/RENO/SLC? ATHLETICS
John Fisher and his crew really messed this up. They saw dollar signs going to Vegas, not knowing that Vegas don't want them. Now, Oakland doesn't want them since they're leaving. Enjoy the 2,000 fans at the stadium to cheer on this lame-duck franchise.
SEATTLE MARINERS
GM Jerry DiPoto seems to make trades, just to make trades. If it doesn't tamper with the nucleus, the Mariners are hopeful that they go back to their 2022 form, and not fall back to the franchise who didn't appear in a postseason for decades. I think they will be fine, for now.
TEXAS RANGERS
Well, well, well, it seems that throwing money and convincing a World Series-winning manager to come out of retirement has paid off. The Rangers used a dominant playoff run to capture the franchise's first World Series title and this year could be a repeat if the cards fall in their favor. I said could.
