2023 NFL Preview: NFC

DALLAS COWBOYS

The Cowboys are the champions of the regular season, then the playoffs happened, and they lose to the 49ers. Re-signing Trevon Diggs was key, and Dak is hoping for a bounce back season. Dallas needs a long playoff run or else every TV will not be safe from Cowboys fans.

NEW YORK GIANTS

Well, the G-Men came through in Brian Daboll's first season and earned a playoff berth. They decided to handsomely pay Daniel Jones and Andrew Thomas. They acquired Darren Waller for another weapon for Danny Dimes. Now, comes the question of to pay or not to pay Saquon Barkley. Could be a mixed bag season for the Giants.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

They were "this" close to bringing home another Lombardi Trophy. The Eagles are reloading and smartly locked up Jalen Hurts (to the richest contract in NFL history). Philly will get revenge in 2023. They have to, right? The complaining about the refs and the turf during the Super Bowl have become nauseating.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

IT HAS HAPPENED! DANIEL SNYDER IS GONE! HALLEJUAH!!!! HALLEJUAH!!!! Now, this franchise can be led by people who care, hopefully. The product on the field seems suspect, but they could flourish now that the toxic culture has disappeared. Don't think that they are a playoff team this season.

CHICAGO BEARS

The Bears had an awful season, which saw Justin Fields become their only positive. They were gifted the #1 pick by former coach Lovie Smith and parlayed that to acquire DJ Moore and draft picks. I expect Chicago to have a better season this time around. The only way this franchise can go is up.

DETROIT LIONS

The Lions are about to rock your world this season. Dan Campbell has this team headed to greener pleasures. Only one problem, can we get these players away from gambling sites? Other than that, Detroit can steal the division and end their playoff misery. Don't laugh, it could happen.

GREEN BAY PACKERS

The torch has been passed from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. Now, Matt LaFleur has a team from his blueprint. Many expect the Pack to take a step back. However, if Love can be productive as Rodgers, Green Bay can continue to be the masters of the NFC Central.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

The Kevin O'Connell era started successfully. It included the greatest comeback in NFL history but ended in a head-scratching way. It's time for Kirk Cousins to get his props. The Vikes are trying to replace Dalvin Cook, wait, why did they release Dalvin Cook again?

Side note: The History of the Minnesota Vikings premieres August 1 on Secret Base. It will be a treat.

ATLANTA FALCONS

Year three of the Arthur Smith era has shown some promise. When you draft a tight end and a running back with top 10 picks, it means you want the offense to flourish. Don't forget about the defense. Jessie Bates will be a great addition to that defense. The question is if Desmond Ridder is the answer at quarterback? We shall see.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

The Frank Reich/Bryce Young era begins in Charlotte. Hopefully, they can turn back the clock to 2011, so they can replicate the Ron Rivera/Cam Newton combo. The Panthers still have a lot of question marks, and a playoff berth will not see the light of day for them, but this is a fresh start for the club.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Speaking of fresh starts, The Saints have seemed to find their successor to Drew Brees with Derek Carr. Also, can Michael Thomas please stay healthy? I really don't see New Orleans as a contender this season, but I have been wrong before.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

The Tom Brady era has ended, and the Bucs are relying on Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask to hold the mantle. Also, Devin White is unhappy and wants out. Poor Todd Bowles and the situations he has been put in. They are the best team in this division, by default.

ARIZONA CARDINALS

If the 2022 Cardinals season were a Green Day album, it would be called Dookie. Kyler Murray suffers a torn ACL and Arizona limps through a four-win campaign. This led to Kliffy and Keimy being shown the door. A new regime begins, and it looks like a rebuild for them. Kerplunk!

LOS ANGELES RAMS

In February 2022, the Rams hoisted the Lombardi Trophy and Stan Kroenke was smiling from ear to ear, then, Karma came a-knockin'. Injuries piled up and led to the worst record for a defending Super Bowl champion in history. Hopefully, everyone is healthy, and they can bounce back. Do you hear a knock at the door?

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Niners fans, "We could have beaten the Eagles, if we had a quarterback."

The NFL fixed that during the off-season as the Niners will try to solve their quarterback situation.......They are waiting for Brock Purdy to be 100%, are they? Well, it was fun while it lasted, Trey Lance. The rest of the team is stacked, so they could be world-beaters again.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Seattle surprised everyone last season, and Geno Smith became a Pro Bowler, which made me look like an idiot. (Read the post from last year on our Facebook page) I think the Seahawks can take the division without any problems.

Well, there it is, the 2023 season could be a sack full of throwback unis and tuning in to see the Manning cast again. The road to Allegiant Stadium for Super Bowl LVIII begins here.
