2023 MLB Preview: American League

BALTIMORE ORIOLES

The fruits of the Orioles' labor are starting to ripen. They figured out that Cedric Mullins and John Means are the cornerstones of the franchise. Adley Rutschman, Jackson Holiday, Grayson Rodriguez and Gunnar Henderson are soon to take this organization into new territory. This year is what we call the 'in between' season.

BOSTON RED SOX

What is Chaim Bloom doing? Are the Red Sox rebuilding or contending? After Xavier Bogaerts chased the money to San Diego, it seemed Bloom panicked and threw the cash at Rafael Devers. He could have done that with Mookie Betts years ago, but........The BoSox will be somewhere in the middle this season.

NEW YORK YANKEES

Yankees. Swept. That's all you need to know. Getting Aaron Judge back was HUGE! Signing Carlos Rodon helps the rotation and letting Aroldis Chapman go also helps. It will take a lot for the Yankees to be back on top of the baseball realm. Hopefully, that doesn't come soon.

TAMPA BAY RAYS

Despite the shenanigans from management, the Rays continue to overachieve and cause said management to look like fools. The stadium issue has been a headache for the team and the fans of Tampa. The team will continue to prosper again this season.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS

I would put the Skip Bayless choking meme here, but I think the Blue Jays can forget that epic collapse in the Wild Card round and make some noise this season with Vlad Jr., George Springer and Bo Bichette leading a murderer's row lineup into the postseason. Don't choke this time.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX

The White Sox have been stuck in neutral for the past few years. The Tony LaRussa experiment was a failure and the club needs to break out in the most desperate way. This is the season to do it. Andrew Benintendi adds defense and a power bat in the lineup. Hopefully, this could put the Sox over the top.

On a side note, All-Star reliever Liam Hendriks was diagnosed with Lymphoma. We wish him a speedy recovery.

CLEVELAND GUARDIANS

First year as the Guardians netted a playoff berth. Cleveland will continue to improve in the 2023 season and could win the division again. Lets hope that the Dolans can spend some money to keep their core together like they extended Jose Ramirez last season. They might have to.

DETROIT TIGERS

The Al Avila Era has ended and a new day has begun in Detroit......with Al Avila's prospects. The Tigers have a mulligan season since the new management can see who they want for the future. It is also Miguel Cabrera's swan song. It was a pleasure watching him become a surefire Hall of Famer.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS

The Royals are once again, in a rebuilding season. Doesn't this team have new owners that are not cheap? The Chiefs won the Super Bowl and their quarterback has a stake in ownership. He could easily dole out some cash for players. Oh, well, we will have to wait in six years when they trade Bobby Witt Jr. for top prospects.

MINNESOTA TWINS

The Twins seem to do everything right during the off-season every year to stay competitive. They sign free agents to fill a void (Joey Gallo, Christian Vazquez). They make a trade for immediate help (Pablo Lopez) and call up a player to make the roster (Hopefully, Austin Martin) and they seem to not prosper like they hoped. This season could be a turning point for the franchise.

Also, their new treads are nice looking.

HOUSTON ASTROS

Redemption. After five years of being the poster children of what's bad for baseball, the Astros ran it back and won the World Series again, thus giving Papa Dusty the championship he deserved. Houston will continue to thrive in the top of the American League in 2023. It sucks, I know.

LAS VEGAS A'S (C'mon, it's going to happen.)

The song "A Horse With No Name" by America greatly describes the Oakland A's. They're in a desert, wandering for a sea to flourish in. After the ninth day, they will find that in Las Vegas. Owner John Fisher and the rest of management are hinting that it what they are leaning towards doings. The talent on the team will suffer because of it.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS

After a season-long wait, Arte Moreno has decided not to sell the Angels. Good luck with many more years of meddling and ignoring the pitching staff. Mike Trout and Shohei Othani will continue to will the Halos in the 2023 season. I actually feel bad for Angels fans. On the bright side, your City Connect jerseys are cool.

SEATTLE MARINERS

It happened! After 21 years of discontent, the Mariners made the playoffs and used an epic comeback to advance. They gave the Astros their best before bowing out in the ALDS. They will be better this season. The trade for All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez could put them to the elite of the American League.

TEXAS RANGERS

The Rangers have a game plan. It is to spend money on elite talent. This off-season, they shelled out cash to Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney and Nathan Eovaldi with a plan to improve their pitching staff. They also convinced Bruce Bochy to come out of retirement to manage. They have a game plan. Will it lead to a breakout this season?
