2022 NBA Mock Draft

One. ORLANDO- JABARI SMITH F, AUBURN

The Magic select a long, lanky scorer who can fill both forward positions with ease.

2. OKLAHOMA REBUILD.....PART TWO!- CHET HOLMGREN, F/C, GONZAGA

The Thunder begin their second consecutive draft with multiple picks getting Holmgren, a seven-footer with point guard ball skills.

3. HOUSTON- PAOLO BANCHERO F, DUKE

The Rockets add a versatile power forward in Banchero to go along with a versatile wing in Jalen Green.

4. SACRAMENTO- Hopefully, not another damn point guard!

I say KEEGAN MURRAY F, IOWA

Harrison Barnes is regressing, and they need help at both forward positions. Murray is 22 and ready to contribute right away. Please don't draft another point guard.

5. DETROIT- JADEN IVEY G, PURDUE

Adding Ivey to a young core of Cade Cunningham, Killian Hayes and Saddiq Bey make the Pistons a playoff contender........about two years from now.

6. INDIANA- DYSON DANIELS F/G, G League

Indiana selects a budding superstar, if developed well, in Daniels. Imagine he and Ty Haliburton on fast breaks.

7. PORTLAND- A.J. GRIFFIN F, DUKE

The Trailblazers begin their rebuild by selecting a sharpshooter in Griffin. Now if they can move Lillard, this will be a full rebuild.

MOCK TRADE ALERT!

Pelicans trade eighth pick to the Knicks for the eleventh pick

8. NEW YORK- BENNEDICT MATHURIN G, ARIZONA

The Knicks are long rumored to obtain Donovan Mitchell, but if that doesn't happen, they trade and grab a polished wing in Mathurin.

MOCK TRADE ALERT!

Wizards swap picks with San Antonio- straight up!

9. WASHINGTON- SHAEDON SHARPE G, KENTUCKY

Let's face it, Wizards fans. The Bradley Beal Era is over. Time for an uprising. Washington snags Sharpe, a player who is unreadable, but has HUGE upside.

10. SAN ANTONIO- OUSMANE DIENG F, FRANCE

The Spurs go after a French prospect who is still raw, but can fit into San Antonio's young core very quickly.

ELEVEN. NEW ORLEANS- JEREMY SOCHAN F, BAYLOR

Anyone associated with the Pelicans.....come here.......closer

Let's face it. Zion has been injury-prone since his arrival. Sochan is the insurance policy.

MOCK TRADE ALERT!

Atlanta trades up to 12 and gives up 16 to OKC. John Collins or Clint Capela will probably be moved here or during the off-season.

12. ATLANTA- JALEN DUREN C, MEMPHIS

The Hawks add an athletic 5 to complement Trae Young.

13. CHARLOTTE- MARK WILLIAMS C, DUKE

The Hornets need size, BADLY! Williams is a physical specimen who can snatch boards with ease.

14. CLEVELAND- OCHAI AGBAJI G, KANSAS

Cleveland adds a "veteran" wing on an already athletic wing-based team.

15. CHARLOTTE- JOHNNY DAVIS F, WISCONSIN

Miles Bridges is a free agent and LaMelo would need a running mate on the fast break. In steps Johnny Davis.

16. OKLAHOMA CITY- MALAKI BRANHAM F, OHIO STATE

Lu Dort is on the trading block......which means the Thunder go after his successor.

MOCK TRADE ALERT!

The Bucks trade the 24th pick to Houston for the 17th pick

17. MILWAUKEE- TY TY WASHINGTON G, KENTUCKY

The Bucks move up to snag a tall point to succeed Jrue Holiday.

18. CHICAGO- JALEN WILLIAMS G, SANTA CLARA

The Bulls select Williams to replace a most-likely departing Zach LaVine.

19. MINNESOTA- TARI EASON F, LSU

The TWolves go after a rebounding forward who can shoot the three. The best of both worlds.

20. SAN ANTONIO- BLAKE WESLEY G, NOTRE DAME

The void of trading Derrick White can be soothed with the selection of Blake Wesley.

Twenty One. DENVER- NIKOLA JOVIC F, MEGA MOZZART

The Jover.....Hey, you come up with a better nickname, can be a player who with a Michael Porter type game. Also it would be funny to see announcers flub his and Jokic's name.

MOCK TRADE ALERT!

The Suns trade into the 22nd pick as Memphis receives future assets

22. PHOENIX- KENNEDY CHANDLER G, TENNESSEE

Chris Paul is near the end, Cam Payne all but disappeared in the playoffs and Aaron Holiday isn't the long-term answer. Phoenix gets the heir apparent to Paul.

23. PHILADELPHIA- E.J. LIDDELL F, OHIO STATE

Having watched Joel Embiid try to play the paint by his lonesome makes me think that the Sixers need more bangers inside. Liddell can provide that.

24. HOUSTON- MARJON BEAUCHAMP G, GLEAGUE IGNITE

Not a need pick. Just the Rockets stocking up on young talent.

MOCK TRADE ALERT!

The Magic ships a couple of players to San Antonio for the 25th pick

25. ORLANDO- WALKER KESSLER C, AUBURN

Orlando grabs Jabari Smith's college teammate to join him and provide a much needed near the rim physical presence.

26. HOUSTON- JAKE LARAVIA F, WAKE FOREST

Revert to pick 24 and read the comment.

27. MIAMI- WENDELL MOORE JR. F, DUKE

Jimmy Buckets isn't getting any younger. So the Heat draft a young player to add depth in the small forward position.

28. GOLDEN STATE- DAVID RODDY F, COLORADO

The champs go for size as Kevon Looney most likely departs and Draymond continues to regress.

29. MEMPHIS- JADEN HARDY G, GLEAGUE IGNITE

The Griz add more firepower in the backcourt by drafting Hardy.

And finally number 30.......

OKLAHOMA CITY REBUILD- CHRISTIAN BRAUN G, KANSAS

The Thunder add more scoring ability and potential three-point mayhem with the selection of Braun.

So, there you have it. The 2002 NBA Draft through my lens. If you are reading this and are thinking that this is uninspiring, well......look at the draft itself. I see the top three picks probably becoming stars, while the rest of the first round is a waiting game till the season progresses.
