(And yes, I'm using the same picture from a previous blog.)
One. JACKSONVILLE- TREVOR LAWRENCE QB, CLEMSON
This is a no-brainer. Lawrence will have weapons in place at Duval. All the Jaguars need to do is develop this once-in-a-generation talent. With new coach Urban Meyer having his offense set, Lawrence should prosper. Key word is should.
2. NY JETS- ZACH WILSON QB, BYU
Now that Sam Darnold is in Carolina, GM Joe Douglas and coach Robert Saleh get their quarterback of the future. The Jets are not in a win-now situation, so Wilson can slowly be brought in without any problem. But this is the Jets we are talking about.
3. SAN FRANCISCO (from Miami and Houston)- MAC JONES QB, ALABAMA
The 49ers didn't trade up to select anyone other than a quarterback, right? I was going to put Justin Fields in this situation, but after this week's shocking medical issue, he will slide. Jones is like Jimmy G, but is better in accuracy.
MOCK TRADE ALERT
4. WASHINGTON- TREY LANCE QB, NORTH DAKOTA STATE
The Football Team makes the big move and get their quarterback of the future. Lance is a multi-dimensional talent which resembles Carson Wentz, but I think Ron Rivera gets his new version of Cam Newton to run the offense.
5. CINCINNATI- PENEI SEWELL T, OREGON
Joe Burrow suffered CL injuries during his rookie season. That's all you need to know. Sewell can protect Burrow for a long, long time.
6. MIAMI (from Houston)- JAMARR CHASE WR, LSU
The Dolphins decide to add a weapon to help develop Tua. Chase has experts raving about his untapped potential, and he's in a perfect situation in Miami.
7. DETROIT- DEVONTA SMITH WR, ALABAMA
Detroit drafts the Heisman Trophy to replace Kenny Golladay and help new quarterback Jared Goff. New coach Dan Campbell can an offense that could....could be explosive.
8. CAROLINA- KYLE PITTS TE, FLORIDA
The Panthers add a much needed infusion in the TE department. Matt Rhule is slowly building Carolina into his image. Pitts should be Shannon Sharpe 2.0.
9. DENVER- MICAH PARSONS LB, PENN STATE
Despite character issues, Parsons is the best linebacker on the board and Vic Fangio wants explosive players on defense. Parsons is that player.
10. DALLAS- PATRICK SURTAIN II CB, ALABAMA
The Cowboys get a shutdown corner that they desperately need. Surtain II can cover one side of the field, where no quarterback wants to throw to that side. He's that good.
MOCK TRADE ALERT
Eleven. ARIZONA- JAYCEE HORN CB, SOUTH CAROLINA
The Cardinals desperately need a cornerback since the Patrick Peterson Era has ended. They are willing to trade up to select Horn to be their cornerstone in the defensive backfield.
12. PHILADELPHIA- JAYLEN WADDLE WR, ALABAMA
The Eagles' receiving corps need help. They drafted Jalen Reagor last year in the first round. This Jaylen can develop into a home-run threat for Jalen Hurts. (Imagine the nickname, the Ja(y)Len Connection. That would be cool.)
13. LA CHARGERS- RASHAWN SLATER OT, NORTHWESTERN
Despite other leaks they need to plug, the Chargers get a blindside blocker to protect Justin Herbert and give them much needed offensive line help.
MOCK TRADE ALERT
14. ATLANTA- JUSTIN FIELDS QB, OHIO STATE
The Falcons use the multiple picks gained on the mock trade with Washington and trade with Minnesota to snag the Georgia native. Despite his health issues, he can learn behind Matt Ryan and new coach Arthur Smith gets his quarterback he can develop.
15. NEW ENGLAND- JEREMIAH OWUSU-KORAMOAH LB, NOTRE DAME
The Pats make a Patriots pick. JOK can develop on a defense that need younger infusion.
16. NY GIANTS- JAELAN PHILLIPS LB/DE, MIAMI
After the last three drafts focusing on offense in the first round, they focus on defense and draft an edge rusher who can develop in Phillips.
17. LAS VEGAS- CHRISTIAN DARRISAW T, VIRGINIA TECH
The Raiders add an offensive linemen prospect since they basically lost everyone in that position.
MOCK TRADE ALERT
18. GREEN BAY- KADARIUS TONEY WR, FLORIDA
The Packers trade up to select a receiver, because they kind of need it. Aaron Rodgers can't carry this team alone. Time to get him the weapons he needs.
19. MINNESOTA- KWITY PAYE LB/DE, MICHIGAN
The Vikings traded down and still get the player that they need. Paye adds an edge on a defensive point where they need that edge.
20. CHICAGO- CALEB FARLEY CB, VIRGINIA TECH
Despite his health issues, the Osos (threw some Spanish in there) draft Farley to plug in on a stout defense that could use corner help.
Twenty One. INDIANAPOLIS- TEVEN JENKINS T, OKLAHOMA STATE
GM Chris Ballard will draft an offensive linemen to replace the recently retired Anthony Castonzo and help protect new QB Carson Wentz.
22. TENNESSEE- GREGORY ROUSSEAU DE, MIAMI
Tennessee decided to retool their defense, so drafting Rousseau makes sense.
MOCK TRADE ALERT
23. PITTSBURGH- NAJEE HARRIS RB, ALABAMA
As much as they need offensive line help, the Steelers go after a running back that is perfect for the Pittsburgh weather.
24. NY JETS- ALIJAH VERA-TUCKER T, USC
The Jets add offensive line help for Zach Wilson and Robert Saleh, who comes from San Francisco, where they loaded up between the trenches.
25. JACKSONVILLE- ALEX LEATHERWOOD T, ALABAMA
The Jaguars add a blocker to protect the once-in-a-generation talent at quarterback.
MOCK TRADE ALERT
26. NEW ORLEANS- JAYSON OWEH LB/DE, PENN STATE
The Saints trade up to grab an edge rusher in Oweh. New Orleans make the bold move.
27. BALTIMORE- ZAVEN COLLINS LB, TULSA
This is a Ravens pick. Collins worked his way to become a first round pick. Baltimore loves players like him.
28. CLEVELAND- TERRACE MARSHALL JR. WR, LSU
This is a luxury pick. The first time we said that about the Browns in years. They can trade Odell Beckham Jr. and get value for him.
29. MIAMI- TRAVIS ETIENNE RB, CLEMSON
The Dolphins traded down and get a running back to help out in an offense that could be scary in a few years.
30. BUFFALO- LEVI ONWUZURIKE DT, WASHINGTON
Sean McDermott is still determined to build the defense. Onwuzuruke adds depth on a defense that is already dominant.
Thirty One. BALTIMORE- LIAM EICHENBERG T, NOTRE DAME
Baltimore gets offensive line help after the Orlando Brown Jr. trade and Ronnie Stanley recovering from injury.
32. TAMPA BAY- AZEEZ OJULARI LB, GEORGIA
The Champs draft a player who they can develop since they have the luxury to develop since all of their starters are back.
There you have it. It took many hours and a couple beers thrown in. Its a perfect mock draft, but that's why they call it a mock, right?
