One. PISTONS- CADE CUNNINGHAM G, OKLAHOMA STATE
Detroit gets their franchise player. Can play both the guard and forward positions smoothly. His tall and lengthy frame reminds everyone of Penny Hardaway.
2. HOUSTON- JALEN GREEN G, USA
The Rockets begin their rebuild plan by adding Green to pair with an improving Kevin Porter Jr. That could be a scary tandem.
3. CLEVELAND- EVAN MOBLEY C, USC
After buying out Andre Drummond and probably losing Jarrett Allen, Cleveland goes for the USC big man. Could mesh well with the young core.
4. TORONTO- JALEN SUGGS PG, GONZAGA
The Raptors select the heir apparent for Kyle Lowry. He is my pick for Rookie of the Year.
MOCK TRADE ALERT!
5. SACRAMENTO TRADES UP WITH ORLANDO
JONATHAN KUMINGA PF, CONGO
With the team at it's last gasp on MB3, The Kings trade up and select an unpolished Kuminga. He could become a surprise as Haliburton was last season.
6. OKLAHOMA REBUILD- SCOTTIE BARNES F, FLORIDA STATE
The Thunder start their marathon reb....you get the idea, by selecting a combo forward in Barnes. He will probably become option number one on his first day.
MOCK TRADE ALERT!
7. SAN ANTONIO TRADES UP WITH GOLDEN STATE
DAVION MITCHELL PG, BAYLOR
San Antonio shocks everyone and trades up to draft Mtichell. Dejounte Murray is disgruntled and will probably be dealt. Mitchell is an excellent two-way player who the Spurs love.
8. ORLANDO- JAMES BOUKNIGHT G, UCONN
The Magic add even more guard depth in Bouknight. Very versatile, but lacks three-point shooting prowess. He could improve on that.
9. ORLANDO- FRANZ WAGNER F, MICHIGAN
Orlando adds more depth in the wing for their second pick in the first round as Wagner also has the size to play power forward.
10. NEW ORLEANS- KEON JOHNSON G, TENNESSEE
The Pelicans draft a talented two guard who is great defensively. Remember defense wins championships. See Jrue Holiday, who was a member of the Pelicans.
Eleven. CHARLOTTE- JOSH GIDDEY F, AUSTRALIA
Giddey played in the same professional league as LaMelo Ball, so it makes sense.
12. GOLDEN STATE- ISAIAH JACKSON F, KENTUCKY
GSW snags a player who could succeed Draymond Green and could team well with James Wiseman....if he stays.
13. INDIANA- MOSES MOODY F/G, ARKANSAS
The Pacers grab a three-point specialist in Moody and provides scoring chances at both wing positions.
MOCK TRADE ALERT!
14. NEW YORK TRADES WITH GOLDEN STATE
JALEN JOHNSON F, DUKE
The Kevin Knox experiment hasn't gone well. The Knicks get a player with size and shooting ability.
15. WASHINGTON- ALPEREN SENGUN C, TURKEY
The Wizards continue their fascination with prospects from overseas. But they will get a haul with a probable Bradley Beal trade?
16. OKLAHOMA REBUILD- USMAN GARUBA F, SPAIN
The Thunder drafts a project since they can. Garuba can grow slowly on a team that isn't going to win right away.
17. MEMPHIS- ZIAIRE WILLIAMS G, STANFORD
Memphis grabs a two guard who develop and hopefully, pair nicely with Ja Morant.
18. OKLAHOMA REBUILD- CAMERON THOMAS G, LSU
With their third pick, OKR selects a guard who develop into a serviceable wing.
19. GOLDEN STATE- TREY MURPHY III G, VIRGINIA
The Warriors snag a polished outside shooter since Curry is getting older and Thompson is injury riddled.
20. ATLANTA- AYO DOSUNMU G, ILLINOIS
The Hawks could afford to draft a "veteran" scorer to complement Trae Young.
Twenty-One. NEW YORK- CHRIS DUARTE G, OREGON
The Knicks select a solid scorer and excellent three-point shooter with their second pick in the first round.
MOCK TRADE ALERT!
22. PHILADELPHIA TRADES WITH LAKERS
COREY KISPERT F, GONZAGA
The Sixers need a shooter. Any shooter would be good. I won't mention Ben Simmons. He has enough shade thrown at him.
23. HOUSTON- SHARIFE COOPER G, AUBURN
Houston receives a hopeful franchise point guard in Cooper.
24. HOUSTON- KAI JONES F, TEXAS
Houston receives a hopeful franchise low post presence in Jones.
25. L.A. CLIPPERS- JOSH CHRISTOPHER G, ARIZONA STATE
With Kawhi at an en passe, the Clips select a raw prodigy at the wing as insurance.
26. DENVER- JEREMIAH ROBINSON-EARL F, VILLANOVA
Paul Millsap is getting older and Aaron Gordon wasn't the answer. Time to address that situation.
27. BROOKLYN- TRE MANN G, FLORIDA
Not really a need pick, but they need to get younger.....fast!
28. L.A. LAKERS- JARED BUTLER G, BAYLOR
The Lake Show selects a polished point to slide in with LeBron and AD.
29. PHOENIX- JADEN SPRINGER G, TENNESSEE
The Western Conference Champions snag the heir apparent to CP3.
30. UTAH- MILES MCBRIDE G, WEST VIRGINIA
With MCJ getting older, the Jazz go after a young point guard, who excels on defense.
There you have it. The 2021 NBA mock draft seems more logical than I thought. I probably missed wildly on some picks, but......that's why they call it a mock draft.
