Limp Bizkit is touring again. Time to break out your backwards hat, bleach your hair blonde, go to your attic and find your shell necklace and break stuff. Actually, I'm fascinated to see them, and if Fred Durst still has his "musical" chops. I'm not hating. I'd owned some Limp Bizkit CD's back in the day, so it was interesting to listen to.
One song that caught the attention of wrestling fans was the hit "My Way".
"My Way" was featured on the band's album, which I can not name due to this being a family-type venture. But if you are a Limp Bizkit fan, you know exactly what album I am talking about. The song was featured thoughout the WWF's buildup for the company's biggest show of 2001, WrestleMania 17. Actually, it was called WrestleMania X-Seven. Everything in the early 2000's had to have an X or be EXTREME!, so that explains the whole X thing. The event is considered one of the greatest pay-per-views of all-time. The song meshed well with the festivities, especially the video package to the main event: Austin vs. Rock II. It is one of the WWF's best work when it comes to a video package. When I hear this song to this day, I think of this WrestleMania. Hollywood would use this song to promote the first "Fast and the Furious" movie.
The WWE (they changed the moniker) wanted Limp Bizkit to come back for a WrestleMania. WrestleMania 19 to be exact, or WrestleMania XIX. Their song "Crack Addict" was a good track for the event and that WrestleMania was an excellent pay-per-view. But it wasn't as ironic as "My Way" was.
Yes, Limp Bizkit is a band that has its critics and Fred Durst is not exactly the most liked person in many eyes, but in 2001 in the wrestling world for a few weeks, they were on the top of the world.
