This Tuesday In Texas was a pay-per-view event right after the Survivor Series of 1991. The Undertaker won the WWF (That is what it was called back then) Championship over the Immortal Hulk Hogan in a shady situation where Ric Flair assisted in the Undertaker's victory. Also the Jake Roberts/Randy Savage feud would finally happen in a match thanks to WWF President Jack Tunney. The Macho Man Randy Savage couldn't wrestle, because of the career ending match against the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania 7 that year. He did some commentary during that time, which I actually thought he was underrated as a commentator.
The event took place at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas with an attendance of about 8,000 fans. It was the WWF's attempt to have a pay-per view during the middle of the week, despite the fact that they had SummerSlam on a Monday and the Survivor Series on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving during that time. Now that they have the network and everyone can watch with any device, they can do that now. The WWF promoted this in a way to get people invested into this event. This was actually my first pay-per-view that I watched.
The Matches
Bret Hart vs. Skinner
Remember Skinner? The wrestler from the Everglades who skinned his opponents to the top? You went against Bret "The Hitman" Hart. And Bret was clearing going to win this match, because he was at the time most over by the fans.
Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage
This should have been the main event. When Macho Man does an interview with Gene Okerlund, he hears Jake "The Snake" Roberts entrance music, and decides to attack Jake while he enters the ring and it's a brawl though out with Savage getting the victory. After the match, Roberts continues to attack Savage and Elizabeth comes out to help her him. And Jake Roberts slapped Elizabeth, which shocked me, The WWE is now pushing the women's division and now they have a pay-per view coming featuring the women's competitors. So WWE came along, Good Job.
Warlord vs. British Bulldog
This match was trash. British Bulldog obviously was supposed to go over, because he was more athletic than the Warlord.
Tito Santana and Virgil vs. Ted DiBiase and Repo Man
Ted and Tito obviously carried the match, because they are Hall Of Famers, and can wrestle. The match is ok, in my book.
Undertaker vs. Hulk Hogan
This is where the Undertaker became a legend. Hogan won the match using heel tactics (wait 5 years before that happens). The match was serviceable. I think they wanted to put Hogan over, but you had Hall Of Fame talent facing Hogan.
To me, This Tuesday In Texas was ok. It was better than December To Dismember. The Jake Roberts slapping Elizabeth disturbed me a lot.
